This destination wedding ceremony took place at Christ Church Parish, built in 1714 on the Christchurch School campus where the groom attended high school. With the theme of comfort and tradition, the men wore tan suits; the ladies were adorable in short coral bridesmaids’ dresses. The natural setting of the Rappahannock River helped set the tone for elements of the day. Emily wore a Judd Waddell ivory strapless gown with bands of lace over English netting. A satin sash, covered buttons, and chapel train were subtle accents. “It was perfect for me-simple yet feminine- exactly my style.” Seasonal garden flowers of peonies, lavender and roses completed the bouquets and reception centerpieces. The party continued at The Tides Inn resort in Irvington where roasted Virginia oysters, local fare and guitarist Lewis McGehee started the cocktail hour. After dinner, guests danced all night long to Snackbar Jones. The pound cake with orange butter cream filling was decorated with a ribbon of coral icing and fresh flowers. What moved the couple most? “At the church rehearsal, we signed the 400 year old church marriage ledger with our families present. It was so neat to write our names along with other couples married there through the years.” For the Friday night event, Emily wore her mother’s wedding dress.
